Hello there all, i apologise for posting this elsewhere, i wasnt sure which forum to put it in!

First of all i have a huge thankyou to say to all of the information with regards to interview techniques on here, i had never done a formal interview in my life, due to DJ'ing and never needing to do formal interviews for gigs/jobs etc.

Anyway, im a 20 year old studying business at university, looking for an internship which is for someone who is in university and doing a 4 year course, where they have to take a 12 month work experience. I applied to one company... the largest footwear/sportswear/equipment producer in the world and managed to get the job out of 50+ candidates.... how i did it, i really dont know, but from the feedback given from the employers, preperation and enthusiasim for the job were my key's.

Anyway, im exstatic ive got the internship with them for the next 12 months, and have been asked to come in for half a day to sort out a few formalities on the 3rd august. Now the first problem is that i had previously told them i had a holiday booked on the 11th august until the 25th august, going to ibiza Laughing .... anyway, they said whilst on the phone just now,

"ok, well the monday you get back is a bank holiday"... " so would you be able to start on the tuesday?"... now, with me not wanting to screw up or lose the job by saying, "actually, could i have a bit longer so i can recover" just said "yes thats fine", but now am thinking, im going to be in no fit state to start work the day after coming back from my holiday, and surely it would be better to start a few days after and make a better first impression?

The question im asking you is, should i do this and if so, how should i go about it?

The second question, is with regard to the salary, which has not been discussed at all during in either of the two interviews or when they offered me the job on the phone just now, again i didnt want to seem rude on the telephone or in the interview, have i dug myself a hole by not asking?

Any help would be greatfully appreciated,

Many thanks for all the previous help on this website!

Adam

Before agreeing to the job in total, I would have talked salary. Hopefully this has not messed you up. And despite your need to 'readjust' concerning the holiday, I think your request already does not promote a good image, as it makes you look like you are not serious about this position. You should feel lucky that they do not mind. I do not know that I would push my luck by asking for more time. I do think I would talk salary soon with them.
