| hello to all of you and i hope that i can get some advice from someone with more experience. i was just fired last week due to the slow economy where my boss could not get enought work for all of us. and since her son is th eonly other employee i had to be fired. i live in Vail, colorado where living expences are much higher then the rest of the country and while i was working i was able to cover my bills, but now it is a new situation. i filed for unimployment and if all goes well i should receive 430/week, where i need 650/week just to pay my rent and my car payment. i got hired to work for a hotel to make a minimum amount and i was wondering if i can work there and still collect unemployment? i have to work 30+ hours at the hotel to cover my bills since the unemployment will not do that for me. i have read something tha ti can only earn 25% of my weekly rate, but that means that i have to starve. can anyone help me? can i still work while i collect unemployment? |

| Not sure what the specifics are (25% sounds about right) but yes, you must report any earnings you make while collecting unemployment. And yes, you could always try to keep it "under the table" but if you get busted, well, you just gotta pay it back. |
