I have an interview today and was wondering whether i should mention that i have a week long vacation booked from the 10th of May onwards? I obviously dont want to spring it on the company if i get offered the position but by the same token i dont want it to affect my chances of being offered the position either. Also if i should mention it today, then at which point in the interview should i mention this,i dont want it to be the last thing i say and then leave the employer with that stuck in their mind,id rather end the interview on a positive note.
Thanks in advance

Ondre

You may well be asked about any holiday plans, it's a quite common question.

No real choice, the holiday has to go by the board if necessary.

If you make it clear to the employer that the job comes first, you've got a much better chance of maybe changing your start date to fit in. It'll also reassure the employer. At least they'll know you're making the right moves from day one.

This is definitely not something you want to make an issue of with the employer.

Holidays can be rescheduled, jobs can't.

Meanwhile, check out any situations arising from possible cancellations, if it comes to that, so you don't get surprised by any fees as well.

Hello Paul...
Thankyou for your kind reply,i attended my interview and yes you was right they did ask whether i had any holidays booked. To be honest i think i messed up the interview,id spent so much time researching and thinking about my answers to common questions which basically went completely out of the window once i was there! I dont think i have ever been so nervous in all my life! It was my first interview in over 16 years and i think it must have showed! LOL! I did beat myself up about it on the first day but im just looking at it now as interview experience. Im due to hear one way or the other over the next couple of days but im not holding my breath! Wink

Brilliant, congratulations. Now you can have a holiday from job hunting, too.

Cheers
