I am in USA. My number one tip on finding the job you want is very simple but first I want to say

Big Ups to CVtips.com

I am sure this site has given a lot of people very useful information. Great idea and great service and for all you people thinking about starting any venture on your own remember the concept I just mentioned. "Great idea that provides a great service" (Anyway, I will get back to that some other place some other time)

The number one thing I think you should keep in mind when job hunting to find the job you want is to. . .

1. Think Out side the Box.

What do I mean?

Don't limit your job search to companies that are advertising for vacancies. Look in the yellow pages under the category of work that interests you.

Find out about the companies that are listed. Look them up on the internet. See if there is any chatter spoken about the company.

Then see if you can find out more information on the operations of the company. If you know someone that works there, of course that is a plus for you. You should talk to that person about the company.

Next Call the companies that you are still interested in and tell about your interest in the field, then tell them why you would love to work for them. In your explanation you will show them your level of interest by mentioning some of the information that you discovered during your research.

Trust me, If they are hiring, you will have just put yourself in front of most of your competition for that job. (Put yourself in the hiring managers position, who would you want working, someone who was so interested that they already know about the company or someone who simply filled out your application along with the 10 other they filled out that day).

Oh, I forgot that part, when you call ask for the person responsible for doing the hiring. (I said it like that because the title is not always the same from company to company)

Anyway, let the person know you was wondering if they were hiring because you would love the opportunity to work for the company and tell them why.

Who knows what will happen.

I have been the hiring supervisor for a second shift plant for almost a year . That was more than 10 years ago but realness never out dates.

Good luck on your search!

By the way, If I were looking for a career job in these times, it would be in healthcare, finance, network security, internet advertising and marketing, or programming in languages used for in web design, or transportation.

These are strong fields with a resistance to the woes of the economy. The economy feeds these areas regardless of what else is going on.

Always think through your decision beyond immediate gratification and superficial or nostalgic type accomplishments. Make sure your career choices gives you the freedom and room for advancement you want. If you are the entreprenuerial type, the job should offer you the opportunityto position yourself to be able to jump off your own business in that field when your are ready.

Happiness is about being having some level of control over your future. Some jobs just won't allow that. Others have that element built in.

wow I talk too much. Sorrry if i got carried away.
