Hi peoples I'm new to this site. I lost my job in June one day before my birthday and haven't had much luck in the way of finding anything decent since.
I have over 10 years plus in Medical debt collections I used to earn $45,000 per year there isn't any collections jobs paying anywhere near that I'd even consider $38k since things are getting desperate for me now. The only offers i'm getting are for 28 to 32 k. I also have to mention I'm married and own a home with flood insurance. I've never seen such a stiff economy for jobs here . Usually when I lose jobs I find another one with the same pay or more within 3 weeks of losing one. I'm now going into my third month and haven't got a clue what I'm gonna do. If there are any recruiters or Employers trolling these forums and you have a business on long Island that utilizes debt collectors I'd be more than happy to hear from you.

The economy right now is just absolutely terrible, especially in soe areas of the country. It does not sound like you are doing anything the wrong way, it's just difficult to find a job. Please keep looking and don't give up. I hope something comes your way soon.

Hi Rick,

Try to contact the local employment office about the job market in your area at the moment, they will give you a good indiciation of where are the opportunities.

What are the most open vacancies for ?

Can you do other jobs ?

Keep trying, but in the mean time open your net further.

Have you considered temping or looking in different career paths/area ?

uh huh i've considered becoming a punk rock singer ,video game tester, and tel evangelist. Lets face it I have over 10 year's experiance in one field so if I were to try something else I'm gonna get minimum wage or worse. And at 50 years old with a big ass mortgage and a wife and son I'm not gonna take $7.00 an hour working as a supermarket clerk or gas station attendant . Because I don't see food stamps or welfare as my immediate future. But thanks for the tips anyway Laughing
