Thanks for taking the time to help me out on this one.

I have been on unemployment for 3 months now, all of a sudden, this week my check just stops comming, after speaking with a former co worker (who is still employed at my former job) I find out that my ex boss decided to no longer pay into the unemployment and basically missed her last payment (maybe more) can they stop MY benifits because of this?

BTW this is in the state of CT

thank you for any help on this issue

The employer's under an obligation to pay if there's been no appeal. It's not like they can just stop paying because they don't feel like it. You'll need to check it with DLI about your options if you can't get through to UC.

so when she stopped paying into it, it would have made my checks stop comming?

even tho I was at that job 12 years and paid into it?

Looks like it. I'd say that stopping payment has created a procedural problem, at the very least, but I'm a bit suspicious that things dried up like that. What we don't know is the state of the unemployment payments. Some employers tend to get "clever" with their payments, mess around with them, and it creates problems down the track.

I spoke with her today she said she will be making a payment to them ASAP so my checks will start again, thats kinf of BS that a former employer has the power to make my checks stop rolling in.

Agreed. That BS just sounds better than "hanging on to the money and juggling the books" if it hits a court or any sort of complaint scenario. Some employers play games with unemployment payments, and a few get away with it, because nobody knows what to do about it.

Anyhow, congratulations, hope the payments get happening soon for you.
