Hi there, my name is Jemma i am 21 and from a very rural part of Pembrokeshire - Wales.
I have always worked since i was 15, and have a reasonable education. The jobs i have done have been waitressing, cleaning, office work, filing clerk. Most of these jobs have been part time wilst i have been studing. I have 8 G.C.S.E's and 2 A-levels and one AS level.
My problem is, is that there are no jobs in my area, and the jobs that are availible are jobs working in shops and the occasional office job. I would like to work with animals or outside in the countryside and perhaps with people. I do not want to go back to collage and study again as i know that i will proberly not get a job where i live after all the studiing.
I have been looking for months! And am constantly on job websites, national park websites every posible website you can think of. I have even been applying for jobs i know i would hate, but there seems to be such a demand for jobs that so many apply and the older people with more experiece gets the job.
I did have two part time jobs, and was offered a job by a small business, near where i live so i handed my notice in for both of my jobs for the new business to trun around and say sorry they cant take me on, therefore i am in a mess.
I am desperate, i dont know wether to move away? but then i have no where to go or any money.
I any one has been in my situation or can help i would be so greatful.
Regards Jemma X |

Sorry to say, that's pretty much the story in rural areas.
Seriously, your best shot in this situation, if you've got nothing happening, is to get to either a bigger town, or somewhere you can stay where you have time and space to find work.
Do you have relatives, or friends, in a place with more jobs?
The problem here is that the longer you spend in a place where very little, if anything, is likely to happen, the tougher things can get.
You do have the qualifications for work, but you have to be where it is.
Another possibility, which might do some good, is if you can get a study grant, and move to a place where you can get some qualifications and work at the same time. Don't know if that's possible, but it's a thought. |
