Well, it sounds as if you're more interested is seeing "B" become the employer for whom you wish to work. If that's the case, you don't try to put off "A," but rather contact "B" and see how the process is going. And if it's sounding like it's going in your favor, you lightly, and delicately, let them know you have another standing offer but make it abundantly clear you'd much prefer working working for them, company "B."
And then if it sounds *really* favorable, well, then you can contact "A" and tell them "something's come up," you need to be out of town for a week to tend to some "personal matters," or some such. But if you go that route and still haven't heard from "B," I'd take all this as a "sign" that you're meant to be at "A" in the first place.... |

Yes, go ahead and stall by asking for job offer details, but then go ahead and accept. If you keep the first company waiting too long then you will be in trouble, as they may get mad and yank their offer away. But contact B persistently, and see what they will do to get things settled. You can always tell "A" about "B" later if there's a need to. Otherwise, if nothing comes from the second company then there is not any harm done.
