I was a manager at a supplement store and just recently got fired for failing to meet a certain goal. We have around three or four goals for selling things that we are suppose to meet and my store has always had problems meeting these goals and it's not through lack of trying. However, I was let go because of one goal that I did not meet - I came close but not close enough apparently.

I was written up one time about this, but I thought I was making improvement. Nowhere on that write up did it mention that I would be terminated. Then three weeks later I'm terminated for not meeting that goal.

OBTW - I also have a copy of an email sent to my personal home email address by the very person who fired me congratulating me on bringing my goals up.

I've been with the company for four years. Never been written up before, never been accused of stealing, lying, insubordination or any other misconduct. I've maintained the same staff for a year (hard to do in retail) and really brought the store around. I've done well in all other goals and everything else they've asked me except this one.

I've filed for unemployment and I'm afraid that the slimeballs may try to contest it. What can I expect if they do? Do I have a good chance of receiving unemployment?

Sorry to hear about your job. First of all, as far as I know you are suppose to get three (3) write ups before anyone gets terminated. If you feel this was unfair, and they deny you unemployment, you can fight it. Also if you have not done so, get in touch with the Department of Unemployment and ask questions in reference to this situation, they are the best source for getting info.

Wish you the best.
