USA OREGON....The subject says it all....with DUII on my record I can't find a job to save my soul...I am now public enemy #1. I have been looking for a very, very, long time. It's like I held up a bank or something. I am beginning to get a pretty good idea why the prisons are full. I am a sober, honest man....4+ years of college with damn near 4.0 gpa and plenty of hands on skill. I am sharp, quick and dependable. Precision is my middle name.
Machinery and electricity are my friends.
Anybody have any ideas out there ?? Many thanks.
My name is Jerry

Jerry,

The best policy, unfortunately, is honesty because the minute you try to fool someone and they run a background check, then they will catch it and you will not have a job, just a mess. Try to find a job that may not be what you want but will not mind the history, and to do this you will have to apply to a wide variety of places and maybe even take a job you do not want

Hi,

How do the employers find out you have a DUII ?

Do you volunteer this information ?

Can you counter this with some personal references from a doctor, lawyer, university professor ?

Have you been incarcerated for this ?

---- Sorry for all the questions, but these can help in giving you a better answer.

For those of you who do not know what is a DUII :
Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants

Thanks for the replies folks....I really appreciate it ...In the USA you must sign full disclosure releases to apply for just about ANY job. I have excellent references and they don't help......17 days in jail,...that was a real "cultural" experience I must admit. Also, I must say that all empyoyers run background checks, and some even want credit reports (and more). The crooked businessmen and politicians walk the streets rich...and as an honorable honest man, in my situation, I can't even get employed. Such a deal.

Thanks Again
