Well....quick background and I'll try not to bore you. Been in this corporate profession since graduating 6 yrs ago. Moved jobs a few times due to contracts ending, redundancy or just general stupid conditions at work causing burnout. It's not just me, it's a common phenomenom in my profession, also a high turnover of staff.
It's paid well...and it's challenging, for the wrong reasons - stress, deadlines etc. I tend to do well at interviews, as despite the fact I don't enjoy the stress very much, I am highly motivated.
Anyway, so now I have the opportunity to go to Denmark, which has been a dream for the last few yrs. The pay will be good, and know what the job will probably be like. I also have an opportunity to work in the same town I am in, but in an academic setting doing something not totally different (similar subject but not for profit) but probably interesting, a bit more relaxing, and much much lower salary. Basically if I take it, I'll be starting again from the beginning and everything I worked for is probably not counted.
But I would be re-educating myself and possibly enter a new career path which might be more staisfying. And will I ever go to Denmark then?
So should I follow my ambition to go to Denmark, or stay here for 2-3 yrs and enter the new field? I'm already 29, female and feel like I'm a bit too old for all this starting again malarky.....
thanks for reading, thanks for advice in advance |

Going backwards is not the best idea. My husband did that and is paying for it dearly. He took a job that was "below" his abilities and now cannot command the kindof salary he deserves.
Think hard about this.

| I agree that going too far backwards ain't the best idea. So for me? Oh, I'd be off to Denmark for all the reasons you gave. And being here in the states, in the south, I can add a bizillion more reasons I wish I was in a position to get the hell out of Dodge.... |
