The good news is that international studies are a big deal in Australia these days, so the procedures have been given a lot of attention, and are pretty simple.
You'll need to check with the universities about post graduate studies, because of the requirement to know what's being done, where, and when for visa purposes, etc.
This is our page on Australia's job market, visas, and the rest of the process, which will give you an overview of the way the machinery operates. We did quite a bit of work on this, and we got in touch with Immigration, who were very helpful and gave us some up to the minute materials to work with.

You'll also find the basic process is pretty simple, but look out for the paperwork.
As we say in the various articles, make sure you get all that stuff right, and if there's anything you don't understand, or don't know what you have to do, ask Immigration.
It's not that complex but it is definitely bureaucratic and it saves time and patience if you get things right first time.
You can get most of what you need with a phone call to the Australian Embassy, or online, using the Department of Immigration website. http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/index.htm
People tend to trip over details, though, so no guesswork. |
