OK I need advice. Applied for a job that I found out about late, applied + sent it off late (8ish) on day apps had to be in. Got told about interview via letter about a week before but didn't get letter under all the other rubbish under flatmates stuff. They rang 2 days before interview, + I had to make a presentation but only had 2 days to do it, which they said they would take account of. Anyway, arrived 5 mins late as bus delayed (had to set off at 5am for interview at 2.15), had rung to say was gonna be late, noone there so left a message. Presentation went OKish though the computer spazzed a couple of times. Thought I waffled but answered Qs well. The thing is, I really want the job, it's for the same people I already work for and I think the int went well. However, I guess I must have come accross as a total didz, which I am but I don't want them to know that!

Last bit I promise - got a missed call after the interview (thur) + fri frm unknown number, + when secretary rang on tue for interview it was an unknown number.

What should I do, should I ring on monday? I'm so scared!

This sounds like a mini disaster in the making. Of course call on Monday and check, tell them you had some missed calls and just wondered if they were one and what the status of the job was. After all the other snafus that happened, what is the worst they could think? If you have not sent out a personal thank you for the interview, DO IT NOW!

Hi Gwendolyn,

I agree with Lexa's advice. It shouldn't hurt you to follow-up regarding the position on Monday. Since this is something you really want, be sure you exhaust all options. Years from now can definitely live with that regardless of the outcome. However, I would not dwell on this interview one way or the other. Even if you don't get the job, it may turn out to be a blessing in disguise as something better comes along.

Best,
Mark McCormick

Gwendolyn,

Of course call on Monday!

Getting the job is one thing - keeping it is another. The interview is just the first hurdle, you have the probation to face and this is the REAL test. If you are just absent minded (like most of us) all you need to do is keep to do list and so one thing at a time and focus on just the thing you are doing.

Regards

Let us know if you got the job.

Thanks everyone, unfortunately didn't get job, so lesson learned - if late may as well go home! Thanks for all the help.

Sounds like it isn't meant to be, but if you really want this job then don't be affraid to give them a call.
