Ok Recently I got a phone call about a job but they wanted proof of self employment things such as tax details and such. Basically 2 years evidence of what i did.

Thing is I did not registered for tax as Im not been trading all the time but have been selling unwanted items from time to time during my illness so as far as I know I didnt have to register, as it didn't count.

However I do have a account listing on Paypal giving details of purchases. Would that be enough to prove I did something during those 3 years. To me it seems like proof.

I put online retailing down on my cv as it was something i did time to time during my illness and as far as im concerned it was skills gained. So I used it to fill gaps in cv.

Help Its very difficult to get a job after an illness.

I would recommend compiling any information you have concerning the position. The pay pall records would be a good start. I would put together a packet of information that shows (1) the rough timeline and hours for when you were working, (possibly business expense records, phone records, internet history records, etc.) (2) what specific things you were selling and what strategy was used (personal notes, additional training taken, additional software purchased for the position, etc) and (3) anything else that gives credibility. Personal reference letters of customers can also work well here. Even a letter corroborating your story from a spouse or significant other could be helpful.

Just recognize you will have a higher burden to prove this job was a legitimate position. Even if you do not have all the records, you should at least be able to spell out the parameters of the position and show support for those job functions.

It sounds like you did something like ebay? You may explain the nature of what you did and offer these records as proof if you feel comfortable doing so and they request more of you. I think that might help substantiate anything, and if there are any other sales records you can get together.

Match the skills you have acquired to the skills they are asking for.

You have the flexibility of giving your own self your job title.

If you do not have a permanent presence on the web, why not create a site etc .. This could give you the image you are after (it is rather easy to see when a site was launched though)

I feel that you should take the chance and submit it whatever you have in regards to your online job...paypal account statement or similar things...If things go accordingly, you will get what you were looking for... Smile

It's definitely hard to get a job after an illness, but you're right to put everything out there that you did during that time. What everyone else said is true in terms of giving proof.

I might also add that you were driven enough to do things while ill rather than just "be ill". This shows strength, drive, and determination, all things that an employer will want. Your experience is your strength, so don't be afraid to show that you've overcome and are now stronger and more driven because of it.

You don't take things for granted anymore, do you? Make it happen! Good luck.
