Hello from PA Everyone, I was hired through a staffing service back on November 16th of 2007 for a company that I was to provide temporary work for(temp job)Untill Jan. 2nd. but they liked my work enough to keep me around as long as they could, I guess. anyway... I was E-mailed this today:

Sean: As of this Thursday May 15th, it will be your last day of service to work for the Customer Service.

Thank you for the all the work on the nameplates, and the order packet printing you have been doing over the last several months for me. Current approval for your entention(sic) has not been approved as yet and I have had you working for me since Jan 2nd without an approval from the company. I was hoping another department would have been able to employ you as an employee, but that hasn’t happened as a full time position for you. Currently my department does not have the needed approval to hire you full time, or in this case to keep you on part time employee.

So I'll be there for one day under 6 months, if that matters. My performance or reliability was never brought up as it's been pretty good anyway.

So how's the outcome on this look?

Thanks, Sean.

I think you have to work 16 weeks to qualify for unemployment in most states, so I would say go ahead and file and see what they tell you. I don't think it matters if you were supposed to be a temp employee or anything.

The same thing happened to me, I was employed as a temp for one year and could not get an extension for the job. I applied for unemployment and I had no problem receiving it. As long as you were on the job long enough to collect unemployment, I don't see a problem.

Wish you the best!

Yesterday, the company laid off the people inculding temp workers.
Am I eligible for umpolyment?
I would like to go back school. Can i get some assistance for that?
