Im wondering if I have enough reasons to warrant leaving my job and collecting unemployment while seeking a new one.
I have been at this job for 4 years, I moved up from general laborer to Production Manager.
I have always had a good relationship with my boss. This is a small family owned company.
Over the last 4 months he has been very distant, and now I am getting Incident Reports put in my file for things that others are not getting them for.
They have put 2 reports in my file in the last 3 weeks, I am afraid they are loading my file to fire me.
I did talk to the HR person after my first incident report, that another employee better get the same report for the same mistake i made that warranted me getting one. Her response was "well she is really upset and crying". I have since asked this employee and she has never received one. The mistake we made was minor and has never been written up on anyone before. There has since been 3 other mistakes by others that are more serious or the same and none of those are being written up.
The 2nd Incident Report carries a 3 day suspension. It is for a completely different reason, (I am salary exempt) They are saying I falsified documentation when I didn't even sign any paperwork. This is a long story and I will try to make it short.... Oh yeah my suspension is next week at their convenience. I asked why then, and they stated that we had too many people gone at the moment.
3 employees (who got 2 day suspensions)made a mistake, and took it upon themselves to correct it, they did not notify me (PM) or QC. I found out later of what all went on. We have time sheets that only I look at, and I instructed one of the employees to just use a standard time on it. This sheet is not filled out 80% of the time, I don't see how they can call it an official part of the paperwork, but that is how they are giving me a 3 day suspension.
I have Lupus and the stress of my job is causing me to have flare ups, my boss is unapproachable by me at this time.
I do not want to give them time to drum up more charges and make them look like they have a reason to fire me.
Small companies seem that they can do whatever they want and get away with it.
In the last couple of weeks I know of an office my boss hid a tape recorder in to try and catch a coworker using phone for personal use so he can fire her.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. |

My understanding if that if you leave voluntarily, regardless of the reasons, you'll collect nothing.
I have been at this job for 4 years, I moved up from general laborer to Production Manager.[/b[
Well, add the previous to [b]This is a small family owned company
and throw in a good measure of Over the last 4 months he has been very distant...
And you're getting to the truth of what you already know, or at least sense, is really going on:
You've worked yourself right out of a job! You "fixed problems" and "increased productivity" and everything else you thought a "good" production manager was supposed to do and now you're reaping the inevitable results: You're no longer needed!
(I'm wondering if you're not working for one of my former employers?)
And the rest of what you say serves only to prove my point and yes, you're quite correct:
I am afraid they are loading my file to fire me.
And if you ever needed or wanted "proof" that you work for a first class SOB, look no further than
...my suspension is next week at their convenience. I asked why then, and they stated that we had too many people gone at the moment.
Been there, done that.
This is when you pray to the gods and sacrifice blonde virgins and are willing to sign a blood pact with the devil that something comes your way while you're on that involuntary "vacation" so that you don't have to go back!
Small companies seem that they can do whatever they want and get away with it.
Yep, and so do the large ones and yep, they rarely do anything unless and until they are certain they can, and will, "get away with it". That's why I hate them all.
In the last couple of weeks I know of an office my boss hid a tape recorder in to try and catch a coworker using phone for personal use so he can fire her.
Your boss, pardon my southernese, is a peckerhead and deserves an old-fashioned ass-whoopin' and if you like, you can tell him I said so.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Hang in there until you find something else--and you will--and then run away and never, ever look back. And it's a given that when you DO leave, do NOT "give a notice"! He doesn't deserve it! |
