gils-

Child psychology courses are a dime a dozen. What matters is the quality of your degree.

What not to do: anything which looks cheap and comes from something that isn't a duly accredited professional institution.

Best option is to find a professional, ask about a career path, and there will be some others in the field who might be able to help.

Colleges and other reputable organizations are the right qualifications. That really matters; it's a highly selective field.

The danger is that you can do an also-ran course, and nobody wants to know, because it's from GaGa School of Fire and Forget Macro Learning. If you're going to do it and pay for it, make sure it's worth doing.

Don't know where you are, but check this out thoroughly, before spending a cent, even on a phone call. Search for a local source of information, and check out what sort of support you get when doing any course.

The positive side of this is that as a career child psychology is one of the most important jobs on Earth. You can really achieve a lot.

Go for it, but don't waste your time on the lower quality stuff. Also check out where you go after basic qualification. You can specialize.

From my point of view, a certified degree is only acknowledged via uni. A Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology is what you need, and around 6 years of experience. BUT...there are also specialized courses of three to nine months which end up in your gaining a certificate. The catch with this courses is that you must take them into an accredited institution otherwise you can do nothing with that certificate. Pauloz said it well.

I am with Safri, you have to go to a good school and be willing to put in a lot of time to get anywhere with a psych degree. Be sure that is what you truly want to do, as it is going to take some dedication, time, and lots of money to do this.
