Have checked the Australian government site and found out you are too old to find a good job? Or have you searched some companies and found out that? You should read more and make use of all the info you are being given by authorized departments.

You are not too old! You need to combine a job search for an international job with one related to your age. Just make sure that your resume is current and cover letter is good. You might let someone you know and trust look over everything and give you some feedback. This will help you out with the job search thing as far as age is concerned:

A few suggestions:

1. Research your line of work in Australia, first. Some jobs are very much in demand. If you're a nurse, start pricing plane tickets.

2. Make sure you get the immigration/work visa stuff done properly. Check out with the Australian High Commission in London.

3. If you're a professional, there will be professional web sites and associations which can give you a lot of current information, instantly.

4. Discrimination on grounds of age is illegal in Australia.

5. It is very different to Britain. If you know anyone over here, get a bit of orientation before traveling, and make sure you know how to do what you need to do.

Good luck.

I don't think you are too old. It is a matter of your skill set. If you have a skill for a job there, and can find employment, then you might be ok. You are not permitted to work on a visitor's visa there and they have many different types of visas availale. This can be very confusing. You should try to find out the kind of visa you will need first, and then see if your current skills will enable you to easily find employment and make a smooth life transition. If not, then find out what it wil take to make your dream a reality.
